The hallways of Shibusen were silent since all of the kids were in class at the time, but that was all soon broken when a scream of shock from inside the clinic could be heard. Almost like a roar of thunder.

"I'M WHAT?!?!?!?!?" Maka practically shouted at the professor who was now taking a hit off a cigarette.

Stein glanced up from his clipboard, looking over to Maka who seemed just about ready to pass out on the floor. The news had hit her like a freight train in full speed.

"From all the questions I asked you, and including the tests I took they all came back with the same positive result. Congratulations, your going to be a mother."

Maka literally almost fell back into her seat, her emerald eyes were extremely wide like large saucer plates. She was pregnant?! This couldn't have been happening, she was still only sixteen years old and had school to finish. The biggest worry of hers was that she would miss out on any of the newer lessons and fall behind, not only that it would be much harder for her do any missions in her condition, thus making it almost difficult on Soul becoming a death scythe. Surely she would fall behind in the next nine months.

A sudden thought struck her, what was Soul going to say about all of this? Even though it technically was his fault that he had gotten her pregnant in the first place. Maka remembered telling him about using protection and the risks that could happen when not using it. Things like this situation she was in now. She wasn't ready to be a mother yet, how would she support the child without a job? Neither her or Soul had steady job, Maka also worried that Soul wouldn't be ready for this either. The blonde meister had wanted to scream and yell at the poor boy, a nagging feeling in the very pit of her stomach told her it would be a bad idea to tell him just yet. The blonde wasn't sure wither or not he would take the news well. She thought of all of the worse that could happen.

"Are you going to tell him?" Stein asked.

Maka stayed silent for a moment before shaking her head, hot fresh tears starting stinging her emerald green eyes.

"No…at least…not yet." Maka softly replied.

"Well you shouldn't wait to long, cause eventually he will start to notice. Since within a few months your belly will begin to swell up and get bigger."

"I know, I know! But I dunno if we're both ready to take care of a child yet!" she cried.

"It's kinda to late for that now." Stein joked.

"Well if he was smart enough to use protection like I told him to, this never would of happened!" Maka grumbled in agitation.

"There is always abortion." Stein pointed out.

Maka's eyes saddened and shook her head.

"No no! I would never do that to a child, not ever. I am against that kind of thing anyways, it just doesn't seem right.. It's just something I will have to go through with." she said with a sigh.

"I wonder what Spirit is gonna say about this." Stein questioned.

The blonde quickly turned to face the professor.

"You can't tell him either! Please whatever you do don't tell Papa!" she cried almost pleadingly.

"Don't worry Maka, I won't say anything to him about it."

"Thank you." Maka said with smile.

Stein looked back at the cabinet and rolled over to it opening  it taking out a small battle filled with tiny pills. He handed it to Maka.

"Here take these once every morning. It will subside on the morning sickness a little bit." he told her pointing to the label.

"Oh thank you." Maka said taking them and putting them into her bag.

"Now you will have to come back every month for a check-up and to see how well the baby is growing and making sure it is healthy. You have to make sure not to stress yourself to much and don't over work yourself, it will be bad on you and the child. Just try and take it easy as much as you can."

"I will, and thanks again Stein-sensei."

Grabbing her bag the blonde arose from her seat, going to the door she quietly walked out of the clinic shutting the door behind her as she left. Standing against the door in the empty hallway she placed a hand over her stomach emitting a heavy sigh. This ment now more responsibility on the both of them, together they would have to raise and care for a child, another human life that was in their hands.

"What am I going to do?" Maka thought to herself.

"Maka?" came Tsubaki's voice from a few feet away.

The blonde looked up to her with a forced smile, trying her best to show how scared and worried she really was about this, she wanted no one to know yet. She herself was still trying to coupe with the fact that she was carrying a baby, and Soul's at that.

"Oh hey Tsubaki!" Maka chimed waving over to her.

"So what did Professor Stein have to say?" she asked.

Her mind went totally blank…she had to think of something, anything as quick as she possibly could to cover up any suspicion. But being as clever as Maka was, she shot out the first thing that came to her mind that seemed well enough to believe.

"It's just a minor case of  the flu." she lied.

Tsubaki stared at her for a second with a bit of awkward silence before speaking out.

"Oh I see."

"Stein gave me some medican so I should be better within the next few days." Maka said still trying to act as calm as she possibly could. Obviously it was working cause her friend had fallen for it.

"That's good to hear that you will be feeling better in no time." Tsubaki said placing a gentle hand to her friend's shoulder.

"Yeah, I am glad too. Being sick really isn't much fun." Maka groaned.

"Maybe after you get better we can all get together and do something fun, like go to the movies."

"That would be fun!" Maka said excitedly.

"Try and take it easy, ok Maka?"

"I will Tsubaki-chan, thanks."

Waving goodbye to Maka, Tsubaki walked down the hallway to go find her partner Black*Star. Maka finally was able to rest a little bit easier now, not having to put so much effort into hiding the truth. Glancing over she looked at the time, class was going to let out pretty soon. Maka wasn't ready to face Soul just yet. She had to leave.

Class had finally ended. Soul got up from his seat stretching out his arms and back. It felt good after sitting there for a long period of time. The white haired boy picked up his book bag placing it over his shoulder as he exited  the classroom and headed down the hallways towards the clinic to get his Meister. Turning the corner to get to the clinic there was no sign of his blonde haired partner. Where was she? Didn't she say they were going to meet here after class? He looked around through the crowd of students that hustled down the hallway, still she was no where to be found.

"Where did she…?"

Knocking once, he opened the door peeking inside the clinic to see Stein sitting at the computer typing on it, no Maka.

"Stein-sensei.." Soul called out.

The professor turned around on his chair and pushed up his glasses.

"Hello Soul, what's up?"

"Have you seen Maka?" he asked almost right away.

"Well she was here earlier, but she left just about a half hour before the bell rang." he replied.

"She was suppose to meet me here after class let out."

"Maybe Maka headed back for home. She still is sick after all." Stein said turning back to the computer working on it once more.

The white haired boy nodded softly, turning around he walked out of the room without another word. Something about this seemed rather odd to him but he just decided to shrug it aside for now and just get home to Maka.

When he got back to the apartment as soon as he opened the door, he found Maka in the kitchen She was humming to herself, had just put on the kettle to make a nice hot cup of tea. Taking off his shoes at the door and setting his bag down Soul approached Maka, she hadn't noticed him coming in.

"Maka." he said sternly.

Nearly jumping out of her skin she turned around clutching the cup tightly in her hand.

"Soul! Don't scare me like that!" she scolded.

"Sorry." he said unenthusiastically. "I thought you were going to wait for me after class. It was un-cool to leave like that!"

"I was just…still feeling sick, so I came back home. Besides I thought it would have been better for me to be resting and getting well again. Right?"

Soul arched an eyebrow.

"Yeah I guess so. So what did Stein say about it?" he asked leaning back against the counter crossing his arms over his chest, watching Maka who continued to prepare the tea.

"It's just a minor case of the flu is all, nothing to serious." she said. "Stein gave me some medican for it so I should be ok in a day or two."

Maka hated lying to Soul about this but she was still to afraid to tell him the truth. Like two sides tugging at her, It pulled at her insides, it was a awful nagging feeling. One side was telling her to keep it a secret, the other side was telling her she should tell him the truth. It made her head spin, it was confusing as it was. These two emotions colliding. What should she do? She remembered what Stein had said earlier, Soul would surely soon enough notice and with no way to hide it any longer, she'd have to tell him. But still no not now. Maybe she would wait awhile.

"Go and lay down you dumby, you shouldn't be up on your feet if your sick." Soul nagged. "I'll bring you the tea."

Maka pouted.

"But Soul, I don't need to be in bed all day!"

"You were just out walking from school and back, you been on your feet enough today, now go! And don't worry about dinner, I'll cook tonight."

"Ha, and let you burn down the kitchen? No way!" Maka said mockingly.

"I will not burn the kitchen down, I can cook…..a little bit." Soul retorted back.

"Just like when you burned the curry…" she muttered.

"HEY! That was one time! One. Time." Soul barked.

"Ok, ok I'll let you cook, and I'll go and rest."

"Good now go!" Soul said practically shooing her out of the kitchen.

Maka went upstairs into her room and changed into her pajamas. Sitting down on her bed she sighed and  took the bottle out from her bag. Opening the drawer she placed them in there, that way Soul wouldn't find  them. The blonde layed down drifting in and out of sleep, her fever was starting to come back again and it was making her rather tired. Soon enough, she fell asleep.

Soul came into her room with a tray of food, and a fresh cup of peach flavored green tea about an hour and a half later. He came to stare upon his sleeping meister once more, just like this morning. She sure did seem much more tired lately then usual, but I guess being sick did that you…right? He quietly set the tray down on the table, placing  the back of his hand lightly on her head, he quickly pulled away.

"Yikes! She's burning up."  he uttered.

"Hey…Maka." he lightly called out brushing his hand softly against her reddened cheeks.

The sleeping blonde lightly groaned, her emerald eyes slowly opening to glance up at Soul leaning over her.

"Oh Soul, I'm sorry…did I doze off?" she wearily asked.

"Yeah you did. Your fever came back." he told her.

"Dinner ready?" she asked sitting herself up against the pillow.

"Mmhm. Here." he said gently placing the tray of food and tea on his meister's lap.

"Thanks. Looks wonderful."

Soul sat with her while she ate and the two of them talked about how their days went. He was telling her some of the stupid stuff Black*Star did today, and how Kid got annoyed cause of the blue haired ninja messing up the perfect symmetry. Though it was really nothing new to her, it seemed to happen almost every day. But still it made her fell a little better. After finishing dinner Soul took the tray from her and set it aside onto the table.

"Did you have enough? Want more?"

"No I'm good thank you."

He nodded getting up onto his feet and turning back to the sickly blonde. Grasping the covers he pulled him over her.

"You should get some more sleep. You need to get better as soon as you can so you can make me into the coolest Death Scythe." he grinned.

"I will in a bit, I was thinking about reading a little bit before I did go to sleep." she smirked.

Soul groaned.

"All you do is read, I'm surprised you haven't grown mushrooms out of  your head yet. Bookworm."

"Maaaaka-CHOP"

TWAP! Hit to the head. He knew that was coming.

On the ground he held his aching head, now he was the one with the headache. He wouldn't be shocked that his brains were all scrambled by now from all those Maka-chops. Getting back up he grabbed the tray.

"Well I'll come in and check on you before I go to bed." he said just as he left the room to take the dirty dishes downstairs and wash them.
Maka cracked open a book, but it wasn't long before sleepiness took over her again and before she knew it she was out like a light, the book resting upon her heaving chest rising up and down as she slept. It had been a most tiring day for her, rest was really something she needed.
